We were more than happy to oblige this week, when we received a phone call asking us to come and sample the new menu at our local pub The Duke of Cumberland. "All new dishes will be presented for sampling" they said. "Count us in!" we replied without hesitation!
Looking for the best coffee in town? Picky about the texture of your flat white? Us too...! A stop at the fantastic Foxes Coffee Lounge on Abbey Street is a must when you're in Carlisle. In fact, we think it's worth the trip just for the coffee!
It's an overcast, drizzley Sunday afternoon and we're out for a drive over the fells and there's amazing views for miles... even through the clouds. Ever wondered what's behind the fell at Tottergill? Well, we'd never adventured that way before, and rumour of a good cafe serving a hearty bikers breakfast had us curious!
Update July 2014: Sadly this Coffee Lounge is now closed
A trip to Penrith while you’re at Tottergill makes for a great day out. With unique shops to wander around and characterful streets, it’s full of Cumbrian charm.
Of course, no holiday outing is complete without a coffee stop and we can highly recommend The Eden Coffee Lounge.
For those of you fond of a good café crawl when you go on holiday, a trip to Orton Grange is a must! Located just south of Carlisle , 15 miles from Tottergill, it’s a nice trip to do on a rainy day. It’s not just the café that’s worth a visit though, there’s the newly opened Cranston’s farm shop which stocks a whole host of delicious locally sourced produce and goodies, as well as a gift shop and quilting supplies shop. Something for everyone!
