Sometimes it's nice to go to the Lake District and enjoy some of the less touristy areas. Especially in the height of Summer when the popular towns are the most busy. Why not try sometheing different and head for Elterwater, Langdale or Rydel Water with a visit to Chesters by the River en-route?
Family activities, outdoor adventure, culture & the arts, food & drink – all under one, grass-covered roof! What more could you want from a day out? The Rheged Centre is a brilliant day out and a good rainy day option too.
We love the Cumbrian town of Kendal for a day out or for a stop off as part of a trip to The Lake District. Its characterful town centre boasts a great selection of shops, ranging from well-known high street brands, to quirky individual businesses and lots of great places to rest your legs for a good lunch or a coffee and cake treat too!
Want to visit the Lakes but not sure where to start? Whether you’re into walking or not, Keswick is a great choice for a day trip from Tottergill. There’s quaint shops, café’s and visitor centres to keep you entertained for hours. Not to mention the huge range of walks and treks for all ranges of ability, like this one we did at Derwent Water.
You may already have heard of the Ullswater Steamers, and there’s really no wonder if you have. Cruising on one of the beautiful lakes in The Lake District is a lovely, relaxing day out.
