Reviews - Gelt Cottage

Have thoroughly enjoyed our second visit to Tottergill. Gelt cottage is delightful and brilliantly equipped; Stephen & Joyce make excellent hosts being friendly and helpful. The log burner has come into its own as the weather has been so inclement. We enjoyed a boat trip on Ullswater, Caerlaverock, Sizergh and other castles, Tullie House museum, Lanercost Priory and all wall walks. Mining history was interesting to collate. Woodpeckers, goldfinches, greenfinches, coal blue and great tits all performed well on the feeders, although the sparrowhawk fancied them! Duke of Cumberland in Castle Carrock good for fresh food and good service.

What a fantastic location - stunning views whichever way you looked. Cottage is so well equipped and cosy with log burner. We loved it. Welcome cakes, chocolates and fresh flowers are a lovely touch - thank you. Afternoon Tea was a lovely experience - food was superb and plentiful. We thouroughly enjoyed it and congratulate Steph - she was the perfect hostess (as were Joyce & Stephen!). We hope to come back soon.

Thouroughly enjoyed our short break in an extremely comfortable and well equipped cottage. The highlight being the delicious cream tea, well worth every calorie! We have made good use of the free leisure facilities every day, enjoyed long walks, visiting Castle at Carlisle, Hadrian's Wall, Talkin Tarn and Blacksmiths Arms in Talkin. Thank you.

Can only repeat what has been said, a lovely, comfortable cottage with outstanding views. Log burner has been a joy! Last minute short break to mark David's retirement but definately plan to return. Many thanks.
