"These Boats are made for Walking!" - Ullswater Steamers

You may already have heard of the Ullswater Steamers, and there’s really no wonder if you have.  Cruising on one of the beautiful lakes in The Lake District is a lovely, relaxing day out.

You can choose just to cruise and enjoy the view from the water, or, like we did, make it part of a walk or hike exploring the area around the lake a bit more.  There are 3 different boarding locations along the lake’s edge: Pooley Bridge, Howtown or Glennridding.  We printed out a walking route from the Ullswater Steamers website and followed a circular loop which used a cruise to connect us from walking on one side of the lake to the other.  There’s lots of walks to choose from in this area, including some famous Wainwright walks too.  The scenery, as you might expect being in the Lakes, is breathtaking.  An enjoyable day out that we can highly recommend!

Travel Distance:
Pooley Bridge – 26 miles (CA10 2NN)
Howtown – 28 miles (CA10)
Glennridding - 33 miles (CA11 0US)
